Extreme Drift (Racing Game)

Extreme Drift is a diverse, solo racing game which includes 12 cars & 5 different courses for the user to race around. I had a lot of fun creating and programming audio assets for this game.

On this page, I will show you how I have managed to programme audio for the cars, The music Playlist/ Radio system, Course Atmospheres & User Interfaces. Using Unity & Wwise

The original Unity Asset cam be found here.

#1 – Game Demo & Introduction

In this episode I give a brief introduction of what this walkthrough will include along with footage of the game.

#2 – Adding Audio To Cars

In this episode I show you how I have transformed various sound effects to portray a functioning car in game. This covers the car revs, drifting and the current road surface

#3 – Creating a Music Radio / Playlist System

In this episode I show you how I have created an internal radio system that plays whilst the User is racing. This system is like systems found in games like Forza Horizon, Fifa & Burnout Paradise where different stations will play a random variety of songs within the stations Genre.

#4 – Course Atmospheres & UI

In this episode I talk about haw adding course atmospheres & UI noises help to “Fill out the blanks” in this game, as the atmospheres are rarely heard but essential to add more realism & interest to the audio in this game.

#5 – Finalizing & Optimizing

In this final episode I go over the important final check of the audio in the game making sure all of the assets are as optimised as possible in order for the game to run smoothly on all platforms

#6 – Raw Unedited Game Footage

As I don’t think I showed enough of the gameplay in the last few episode, I thought it would be good to show you the raw, unedited footage of me playing the game with my new sound effects and music.
