Introduction

I started learning game audio programming at the start of the Corona-Virus Pandemic (April 2020). I wanted to learn this as I have been passionate about video games since I was a child. I have grown to really enjoy a lot of aspects around game audio as it combines many of my past experiences; Sound design, Mixing, Scoring, Effect manipulation & Programming

Audio Designing & Scoring
When creating Sound effects & Scores for games, I either use Logic or Ableton as my choice of DAW depending on what I’m creating.
For scores I will use a combination Synthesisers, Samplers, Recorded Instruments and sometimes Vocals to generate a compelling score to accompany a certain level or area. (check out my musical alias to see some of my music production)
I have used, field recorders, instruments and synthesisers to create sound effects in the past. I will then apply certain post processing effects to the sound effect before exporting so that my audio middleware has less effect processing to do later in the process.
The only effects that I won’t add here are effects that are manipulated using game parameters.


Game Audio Middleware
My choice of middleware to use with unity is Wwise. This is mainly due to this being the software that I started learning Game Audio on and for the ease of use integrating with Unity. I have completed the Wwise 101, 201 & 301 Certifications now but I still go back to the source materials when I get stuck.
I would be open to learn more middlewares such as FMod if required


Game Engine software
I am continuing to learn and use Black Box Unity as my choice of game engine. I use Unity as it was the game engine used in Wwise 301 learning materials and because it has been used in the development of many great titles, such as; Overcooked, Deus Ex & Among Us. I would be open to learn more game engines such as Unreal if required
